Bolton's inspirational women celebrated International Women's Day by sharing their stories.
The Bolton News hosted a special event to mark the annual day sponsored by The University of Bolton at the Bolton Arena, where women listened to a talk on How To Be A Successful woman.
Speakers included Bolton Council CEO Sue Johnson, who talked about the many roles she had before being appointed as chief executive last year.
University of Bolton motorsport engineering student Elise Lewis gave a talk on her journey in working in motorsport, studying at the university and being a part of Girls On Track.
Girls On Track is an initiative to support girls and women in motorsport careers, providing exciting opportunities like visiting F1 racing teams and even organising race trips in countries all over the world.
Elise said: “I’ve been studying at Bolton University’s fantastic National Centre for Motorsport Engineering, where I got the chance to learn from industry professionals.
“I’m also on the NCME racing Formula Student team where we are building our own car to race at Silverstone Circuit.
“Racing driver, Milka Dune once said that: ‘When you put the helmet on, it doesn't matter if you are woman or man, the important thing is your ability, your intelligence and your determination’.”
The event also heard from boxing coach and law graduate Sannah Adam, who is encouraging young people in Bolton to take up sport and to follow any dream they have.
Bolton Wanderer’s female team saw young women Frankie Williams and Ellie Southworth talk about their experiences in getting to play football as a career.
Founder of gifting company A Year Of Dates, Kate Greenhalgh told women on how to create a winning mindset after speaking of her successful business of date ideas.
Women listened and asked questions to the panel about how to create more spaces for women in Bolton to come together and have the opportunity to grow and become successful in everything they do.

The University of Bolton’s assistance vice chancellor Sharon Germaine Cox also attended and inspired the women with her story, as did Heather Middlehurst from Stateside Foods.
