Staff at a Bolton pub are joining forces with a barbecue company to bring food to the table.

The Brewery Bar in Horwich is teaming up with BBQ company Smokehound to offer food to its customers on Hampson Street.

Food was launched at the pub on Friday (March 3), starting off with a smaller menu.

The pub is run by Blackedge Brewing Company, a Horwich-based brewery established 13 years ago.

The move marks a first for The Brewery Bar, with increased demand for food there having been seen by its staff.

It is also a first for Smokehound, who had previously only served their food at pop-ups, with this being their first permanent home.

Rich Hawcroft, joint owner of Smokehound, said: “I think it’s the right venue.

“It feels amazing. It just fits into place. We’re really happy with the progress made so far in a short space of time.

“Considering the amount of preparation and detail that goes into it, I think we’ve done well so far.

“I’m really happy with it, and the beers are amazing here. We wanted to do it justice.”

The new menu includes burgers, tacos and hotdogs, with options for meat lovers and vegetarians alike.

He added: “We will continue to do pop-ups as we still like working with breweries. It feels really good, people love craft beer and craft barbecue.

“We’re working with about five or six breweries, but what we’ve got here is like a permanent pop-up.

“At the moment we have more winter warmers on the menu, but come summer we can have the kitchen going and then have a barbecue in the beer garden.

“All lit up on a summer evening, it will have a real summer feel outdoors.”

Holly Bradshaw, sales manager at Blackedge Brewing Company, said: “Food is something we were thinking about doing anyway, so this was good timing.

“People were always coming in and saying ‘we wish you did food’ and this is a good way to bring it in.”
