Police have said a call they responded to in a residential area of Farnworth was hoax.
Officers say they were called to Cawdor Street at 4.30pm yesterday.
Police were sent to the area following 'concerns' which had been raised to them.
But investigations revealed no incident had taken place.
However upon further investigations it emerged no crime had taken place.
One local resident said an area of the street taped off, but this has not been confirmed.
He also said there was a large police prescence.
A police spokesperson said: “It was a hoax call in the end.”
