A Bolton man has been fined for travelling on a train without buying a legitimate ticket first.
Lee Brown travelled from Hebden Bridge to Manchester Victoria in August last year.
He did so without paying the £11.50 required to obtain a valid ticket on the Northern Train.
The case against him was proven at Kirklees Magistrates Court this month.
Brown, 49, did not attend at court.
The court heard he did not have the relevant railcard for the ticket he purchased.
A letter was sent demanding an explanation but no response was received. he declined to pay a Fixed Penalty Notice.

After the case against him was proved, Brown was fined £220 and ordered to pay compensation of £11.10.
The man from Station Road, Turton, was also ordered to pay further costs of £238.
In total he was ordered to pay £469.10 and instructed to pay all of this within a month.
