Firefighters had to rescue a man from a property after it caught fire this morning, Tuesday, February 21.
Two engines from Bolton Central and one from Bolton North fire stations attended the house fire at 9.30am on Clegg Street, just off Tonge Old Road,.
They were on the scene for around two hours.
The fire, which is said to have started due to the battery of an electric bike catching fire, created lots of smoke, trapping the man upstairs.
Firefighter Ryan Bailey of Bolton Central Fire Station said: “One man was rescued from the property by firefighters this morning.
“The man was treated at the scene by North West Ambulance Service as he had taken on a bit of smoke fumes. He wasn’t taken to hospital.”

Firefighter Bailey says the there was minimal damage to the house, which was mostly contained to the battery itself.
“There was a lot of smoke which was trapping the man upstairs,” he added.
The fire crews used fans, gas detection equipment, a hose reel, and breathing apparatus to deal with the incident.
Afterwards, firefighters fitted the property with fire alarms, and Firefighter Bailey has appealed to the public to make sure they have alarms fitted and to test them regularly.
