A salon in Bolton town centre has been shortlisted for a UK-wide industry award.

The Place Hair and Beauty, located on Knowsley Street and which is also accessible from within the Market Place, is up for a prize at the UK Hair and Beauty Awards after making the shortlist in the ‘Best New Salon’ category in Bolton.

Owner of the salon, Abi Quigley, said: “Our current customers mention how we greet them and make them feel welcome. We don’t make them feel judged or look them up and down from the moment they walk in. 

“They feel important and listened to and our staff are not over the top in appearance and this makes customers feel less conscious about themselves when they come in.

“We do a variety of styles. I get so many ladies with short hair telling me how hard it is to find someone who can cut short hair and many hairdressers won’t do it.

“What makes our salon different is the amount of skill in lots of different services and different types of clients.

“We are hijab friendly, and I have worked and done market research in many parts of the world by having my own hair done by hairdressers in parts of the world I visit to see if I can take things away to my own salon.

“We are also a finalist in the Bolton Women in Business Awards.”

To celebrate being shortlisted the salon will be hosting an event on Saturday, March 11 between 2pm and 5pm.

Attendees will get a voucher which will give them £10 off services more than £50.

"We will have canapés and will be demonstrating some of our services," Abi said.

The awards celebrate the hair and beauty industry and aim to support businesses both large and small and expose all candidates to new opportunities via social media, no matter their financial and social status.

Outlets first have to make it through district and regional rounds, with finalists competing locally, before the winners head to the national ‘Grand Final Red Carpet Event’.

The Place Hair and Beauty was recognised last year by the Good Salon Guide as a five-star establishment.

It also recently gave back to the community by hosting a fundraising day for Bolton Manbassadors, raising £210 for the male mental health charity.
