A teenage boy has been arrested by police this evening after officers said he damaged their vehicle which was parked in Breightmet,

The arrest was made after the wing mirror of the car was kicked off whilst it was unattended on Lenham Gardens, Breightmet yesterday evening.

A spokesman for the neighbourhood force, GMP Bolton South said: "The vehicle is now off the road until it can be repaired. Actions have consequences."

The Bolton News has recently reported on anti-social behaviour in Breightmet.

At the end of last month a football team was forced to cancel its home matches after vandals ruined the pitch.

Breightmet United Football Club has had ongoing issues with off-road bikers wrecking the field, and now the team is unable to host home matches

Secretary of Breightmet United Football Club, James Moscrop, said the New House pitch is damaged multiple times a week, and since early December more than 100 children have been unable to play football.

He says this has been an ongoing problem for the last three years, but says that the last year in particular has been especially concerning.

One resident said: "What is happening at the moment in regards anti social behaviour around Breightmet? Is there regular patrols ?

"Breightmet football club are having major issues regards pitches at new house farm and off road bikes causing massive damage."
