A new café has officially opened in Farnworth after the owner had a burst of inspiration.
Jonesy’s Juicy Bites opened to the public this week on Monday February 13, and is already proving to be popular with the same faces being seen most days.
Owner Claire Davis previously worked at Bolton Royal Hospital as a health care assistant for three years and was ready for a change.
It all started one weekend when Claire was sat in bed on a Friday night and her fiancé Tom Jones said his friend’s café was available to rent.
She said: “On the Saturday morning I went to look at it.
“It was all a bit random, and I was impulsive and just ran with it.”
Claire – who grew up in Halliwell - said that she had thought about running a business in the past, and building something that was hers.
She added: “It was a no brainer, and it came at a good time.
“I believe everything happens for a reason.
“After working as a health care assistant at the hospital for three years, I was ready for a change.
“I’m feeling positive, and hopefully it will continue for years to come.”
The café offers a range of hot and cold delights, including all day breakfast, daily specials, sandwiches, wraps, hot subs, protein boxes and more.
Claire added: “The girl who works with me threw together a homemade cheese and onion pie the other day.
“We already have regulars coming in every day.”
Throughout Claire’s journey to officially opening the café she says she has experienced 'every emotion possible'.
She added: “I have been scared, nervous and happy.
“I have had every emotion going.
“But it’s a really exciting new venture and I love a challenge.
“I have put my all into it, and hopefully it pays off.”
Her fiancé Tom is also from Farnworth, and Claire says that he knows a lot of people in the area, which has definitely helped the business.
The café is located at The Gatehouse, Egerton Street, Farnworth, BL4 7ER, open six days a week, which also includes indoor seating, as well as a takeaway option.
She added: “Tom knows everybody, which has been good for the business.
“It’s a great location, which includes parking too.
“The location is brilliant because of all the businesses in the area, and it’s very industrialised.”
Claire says that all of this wouldn’t have been possible without her brilliant cook Marisa Howell, and her best friend Laura Grundy who has been there every day, volunteering and helping her out.
