A man has been arrested after police were called to two incidents in the early hors.
Officers were called to Brooklands in Horwich at 1am after reports of an attempted car break-in and just three hours later they were called back after a theft from a shop.
Police believe the same man is responsible for both incidents.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: “We were called to reports of a man trying to break into a car on Brooklands around 1am.

“Then at 3.50am, a man, believed to be the same one, was arrested on suspicion of theft of alcohol from a shop."
A local resident said: “I got up at 4.15am, looked out the window and saw several police vehicles had turned up.
“My neighbour’s dogs were going mad.”
