A crash happened this evening on a busy Bolton Road which caused some disruption.
Police were spotted on Blackburn Road at around 8.20pm.
It is not yet known what caused the crash, but according to a resident it appears that two cars were involved at the junction near Asda.
A passer-by says that the crash looked “quite nasty”, resulting in a passenger door being damaged on one of the cars, and the other car having damaged front corners.
A passer-by said: "It looked quite nasty, but it didn’t look like anyone was hurt seriously.
"One car had damage to the passenger door, the other to one of the front corners.
"It looked like one has tried to turn into Asda and that’s where it went wrong."
It is one of many crashes that has happened on the road.
Just two weeks ago Blackburn Road was closed between Astley Street and Waters Meeting Road, where emergency services attended.
A woman in her 40s was taken to hospital but her injuries were not thought to be serious.
Two cars also crashed at the traffic lights on Blackburn Road at the junction with Crompton Way in January this year.
In May last year two cars crashed into each other as traffic lights failed at the junction of Blackburn Road and Moss Bank Way.
The road had been subject to repair works for the last seven months and resurfacing work began on it in January.
The project is to create a right signal turn from Moss Bank Way to Blackburn Road into town.
Police have been contacted for more details on the crash this evening and we will continue to share updates as we get them.
