Bolton residents are being urged to show their support to domestic abuse survivors this International Women's Day.

Wednesday March 8 is International Women’s Day a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.

And Fortalice, a Bolton based domestic abuse charity, is asking Bolton to celebrate this day, whilst supporting the charity at the same time.

The charity is asking people to invite friends, family or colleagues and choose whether to host a tea party with a cake sale or have a night in with wine and nibbles donating the funds saved by staying in.

Fortalice is  asking people to pick a date between March 6 and 12 and on registering they will receive a full Tea or Tipple fundraising pack which includes bunting, games, posters to advertise and how to create a fundraising page.

Carolyn Holcroft, Horwich from ‘Yoga Art with Carolyn’ has already signed up and she is inviting yogis to join her after her weekly class for refreshing herbal teas to celebrate International Women’s Day and support this worthy cause.

Carolyn said: “It is a pleasure to support Fortalice this International Women’s Day, what a lovely way to end the class with a cup of herbal tea to raise awareness and show support for Fortalice with the Tea or Tipple campaign!”

A parent who accessed Fortalice said: “This place saved my life in more ways than one, more than it can ever know.

“If it wasn’t for – and this is not an over-exaggeration, if it wasn’t for Fortalice, my eldest son wouldn’t be alive right now. He has become a totally different person.”

And £35 could pay for a one-to-one children counselling sessions just like Ben had received.
