Food hygiene inspectors have rated five eateries in the latest round of inspections.

Examining food handling, the cleanliness and condition of facilities and building and management of food safety, inspectors have given one eatery a four-out-of-five rating, three eateries a three-out-of-five rating and one eatery a two-out-of-five rating.

The eatery with the highest score of four-out-of-five rating is Toby Carvery at Crompton Way, Bolton which was handed the score after inspection on January 7.

On the inspection report it states that the hygienic food handling is ‘very good’, the management of food safety is ‘good’ whilst the cleanliness and condition of facilities and building is ‘generally satisfactory’.

The eateries to be handed new three-out-of-five ratings include Sanshan Chinese takeaway, at 278 Chorley Old Road, Bolton which was given the score after assessment on February 9, Spread Eagle Pub at 126 Hough Lane, Bromley Cross, which was rated on January 6 and La Scala Restaurant, at 49 Chorley Road, Westhoughton was given the score after assessment on January 11, the Food Standards Agency's website shows.

The inspection report for Sanshan Chinese Takeaway was rated ‘generally satisfactory’ in all areas.

The Spread Eagle Pub inspection report states the management of food safety is ‘good’ whilst the hygienic food handling and the cleanliness and condition of facilities and building were both ‘generally satisfactory’.

The inspection report for La Scala Restaurant states the hygienic food handling is ‘good’ whilst both the management of food safety and the cleanliness and condition of facilities and building are ‘generally satisfactory’.

Finally one eatery has been handed a two-out-of-five food hygiene rating.

Jarern Street Food at 66 Bridge Street, Bolton was handed the new rating after inspection on January 8.

The inspection report states the management of food safety is ‘generally satisfactory’ whilst ‘improvement is necessary’ for the cleanliness and condition of facilities and building and the hygienic food handling.

It means that of Bolton's 444 restaurants, cafes and canteens with ratings, 246, 55 per cent, have ratings of five and none have zero ratings.
