A man has confessed to a range of assaults in Bolton committed against a woman across several months.

Kieran Hilland, 22, committed the assaults between last Autumn and this January.

Appearing before Bolton Crown Court via video link from prison this week, he pleaded guilty to seven charges and was told he would be brought back at a later date to learn his fate.

Judge Tom Gilbart said: “You pleaded guilty to a number of these matters and you’re going to be sentenced for them.

“The fact that I’m adjourning this case is no indication of what the court has in mind but as you will have been informed these are serious matters and custody will be at the forefront of the court’s mind.”

The case was put by Juliet Berry, prosecuting, who told the court that Hilland, of no fixed abode in Salford, had been remanded in custody since his arrest.

He pleaded guilty to two counts of intentional strangulation, three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and two counts of assault by beating.
