THEY say ‘charity begins at home’ well that is true at this Ladybridge pub.
Landlady Rebecca Whittle from the Beaumont Arms says they have been busy helping out many good causes.
She said: “We have been here since March 2019, we have helped raise money for many charities Bolton Hospice, Homeless UK, St Anne’s Hospice, appeals after the Bush fire up Rivington, and the Cube in Bolton, Bolton Lions, Alzheimer’s Society, and Fortalice and many donations to local businesses.
“It’s a very community based pub and we look after our community. Sky Sports showing all sports live on our many screens, and a large beer garden including an outside TV, and two pool tables hosting four pool teams every season.
“We have a very open pub which as a dining area and we’ve also an old cleaning cupboard room we changed into a children’s play room and the children love this and so do the parents.
“We host many children’s parties during Easter, Halloween and Christmas during this time we always do a great disco and parties with fun and games. The children love and parents love it so much so that last year I had to host two parties on Halloween and Christmas on separate days due to popular demand.
“The Beaumont as changed hands many a times with managers and breweries and we believe we are the second longest to date to run the Beaumont.
“Over the past few years we’ve noticed a lot more families come and eat with us more and we still have our regulars that come in and catch up with many family and friends.”
Rebecca worked in finance, home care, pubs behind bar and retail as section leader for many years while landlord Peter worked as a chef, manual labour jobs and behind bar.
They have two children David and Lily and Poppy the dog.
Rebecca told us about being a finalists of the Pub of the Year.
She said: “This is such an amazing achievement to be even in the top six, I cannot thank everyone enough for voting for us. Being pub of the year will mean a lot to us. We have been an open book here from the start, from supporting charities and pulled together when we can.
“I would celebrate with a party. Thank you again everyone for supporting us and being here now as your top six is a honour and I’m so proud of being here now. Being in the pub trade is not easy and I’m sure all the pubs will agree it’s not as easy as it seems.”
Rebecca told us about what they offer to customers.
She said: “We have a great selection of food and food deals from starters and family classic deals, and children’s meals and desserts.”
Rebecca has praised the staff who help make the place it is.
She said: “We have Steven, he’s been here from the start with us, Josh has been here three years. David’s been here also from the start first as a glass collector and now bar. Thomas and Jack have just started with us, and there’s Charmaine our weekend cleaner. My team mean the world to me they are very good at what they do and know how we all work together.”
“We host employee of the month every month for them giving cash certificate and a trophy and they love it.”
