A man has been arrested this morning for ‘reportedly begging’ in Bolton town centre.
He was arrested at the junction of Trinity Street and Blackhorse Street.
The man has since been taken to Bolton Custody and has been charged.
He will now appear in court in June.
A spokesperson for Bolton South GMP said: “A male was arrested at the junction of Trinity Street and Blackhorse Street this morning for begging.
“He was taken to Bolton Custody and has subsequently been charged to attend court in June.”
Operation Shelter has been working in Bolton, launched by GMP, to combat the begging and sleeping rough prpblems in the town.
The town centre also has a public space protection order, which allows authorities to issue fines of up to £100 for begging as well as on-street drinking.
