Oldham mum feared for her life in alleged bar assault

A single mum says she has been left "scarred for life" after she was subject to a harrowing attack from a man and a woman in a bar in Royton.

Jade Kremner went out on Saturday night with her sister for a friend's birthday.

However, at around 1.30am, while in JLR Royton on Market Street, she said a couple inflicted a "cowardly" assault on her in the bar which left her in need of medical assistance and in agonising pain.

The 33-year-old said the woman initially "pulled" her to the floor by her hair.

When Jade's sister attempted to break the pair apart, Jade said the man then appeared and allegedly "booted", kicked and punched both siblings in the head.

During the estimated six to eight-minute-long ordeal, the victim also claimed the pair bit her finger, "like an animal", while she could feel some restriction to her windpipe which made her fear for her life.

"Without sounding dramatic, I saw black and I thought I was going to physically die because I was struggling for my breath", Jade added.

She also said she doesn't know whether her attackers used a glass during the assault but a medical examination revealed she had numerous "gash marks", one of which was 10cm in length, as well as slices on her legs and glass shards in her foot.

Photographs of the scene immediately after the assault also show shards of broken glass on the floor while Jade's leg was seen pouring with blood.

Jade said: "I just wanted to get home to my children but an ambulance came within minutes to my house.

"The paramedics said because my blood pressure was over 120 and I was losing a hell of a lot of blood in my upper thigh and on my legs, I needed to go straight to A&E.

"My twin girls are actually heartbroken. They're only seven and they were so scared when I came home."

Jade said she had to have an X-ray to scan for glass remnants, a tetanus vaccination due to the bite on her finger and a CT scan to check for any head injuries while she was in the hospital.

In a document of recorded injuries shown to The Oldham Times, nurses wrote Jade had suffered swelling to the side of her neck from being "strangled", a 4cm gash on her left shin, a 10cm scratch on her left-hand side as well as a 3cm gash.

A further two shards of glass were found in her left foot and one bite was recorded on her left-hand finger, totalling three punctures on her hand.

Jade said: "I'm still really bruised. My injuries are still swelling and I have deep cuts. They're horrific.

"I have swelling around my head and neck where I was strangled and kicked and a bump on the back right-hand side of my head.

"I'm in a hell of a lot of pain but I'm still in quite a lot of shock more than anything.

"The hospital has given me antibiotics but that's to do with my head swelling but I've got open and weeping wounds.

"I'm going to be left with scars all over my legs, my thighs and my buttocks - I'm going to be left scarred for the rest of my life."

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police confirmed the force were made aware of the incident on Market Street in the early hours of Sunday.

The spokesperson added: "An investigation is now underway into wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm.

"No arrests have been made at this time."

Jade said her sister has similar injuries and has also reported the incident to police.

The victim added: "My main concern is that this needs to be put to a stop because someone could end up dead from that.

"If anyone has any more information, please come forward."
