The police helicopter was scrambled after a biker riding motorbike with a number plate stating 'naughty boy' led officers on a '130mph chase'.
The pursuit began when the biker failed to stop for officers in Bolton, say police.
The chase, said to have reached speeds of 130mph, took place through the town towards Salford.
The bike was spotted by the police helicopter as the rider attempted to head back to Bolton.
Motorway police patrols used a stinger to stop the bike.

The biker was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving an firearms offences.
A spokesman for GMP Traffic said: "Bike failed to stop for RPU - roads policing unit - in Bolton and turned into a 130mph pursuit towards Salford.
"Bike attempted to head back to Bolton.
"The bikes vrm - vehicle registration mark -was ironic."
