A family have paid tribute to a ‘popular lad’ and student who died at the age of 33,
Leon Graham Martin was a student at the University of Bolton, studying biomedical engineering, something he had shown great passion for.
Mr Martin who lived on Western Street in Bolton died on August 6, 2022.
His mum, Rebecca Morris, said: “He was a popular lad.
“Leon was a caring and loving individual and none of us know to what extent he was suffering.”
Dr Patrick Waugh concluded to Coroner Peter Sigee at Bolton Coroner’s Court that Mr Martin’s death was due to hanging.
Mr Martin had admitted he had thought about taking his life on occasions to mental health practitioners in the past.
He had been receiving treatment.
Michael Whiteley from the Greater Manchester Mental Health legal department said Mr Martin had been working with the psychosis team after showing symptoms.
Dr Hannah Ruth Cappleman, a consultant psychiatrist in Greater Manchester also worked with Mr Martin during his psychosis assessment.

Dr Cappleman said: “He worked very hard to manage these difficulties and seemed like he was taking control of his own life.
“He would even come to appointments with his university bag and tell us what he was doing, he was a bright young man.”
Mr Sigee concluded Mr Martin’s death to be hanging with the intention of taking his own life.
