One woman has been taken to hospital for checks after a fire started at a house on Elgin Street in Halliwell this evening.
Fire crews were called to the property at around 6.50pm and were on the scene for around an hour.

The cause of the fire is still unknown and an investigation is underway, however minimal damage was recorded.
One woman was taken to Bolton Hospital for precautionary checks.

A spokesperson for Bolton Central fire station said: “We attended a fire at a house on Elgin Street in Bolton at around 6.50pm.
“We rescued one lady from the property who has been taken to Bolton Hospital for precautionary checks.
“The cause of the fire is still under investigation at the moment. There was minimal damage in the front room.
“There were three fire appliances that attended, two from Bolton Central and one from Bolton North and police and Northwest Ambulance Service were also there.
“We were at the scene for around one hour.”
