A family has paid tribute to an 'intelligent, kind and gentle young man' who died at the age of 28.
Pharmacy dispenser Janak Patel died on August 9, 2022 at home on Landon Close in Bolton.
An inquest took place into his death.
The family told Coroner Mr Peter Sigee at Bolton Coroner's Court that they had been left shocked after Mr Patel’s death.
Sister Sunila said: “He loved music and would go to concerts and gigs with his friends.
“He drank socially and enjoyed computer games and spent a lot of time playing in his room.
“It was a shock to the whole family.
“Janak was intelligent, kind and a gentle young man.
“He was witty with a good sense of humour, a wonderful uncle who was very much loved and will be deeply missed.”
The pharmacy dispenser was an avid rock climber and taught the rest of his family how to climb.
Mr Patel had even been climbing on August 7, just a few days before his death.
Pathologist Dr Patrick Waugh found Mr Patel’s cause of death to be oxycodone toxicity.

Toxicologist Julie Evans found oxycodone, diazepam and small amounts of alcohol in Mr Patel’s blood and urine samples.
The level of oxycodone was found to be higher than levels for therapeutic purposes.
Mr Sigee said: “I record the medical cause of death to be 1A oxycodone toxicity.
“His death was caused by oxycodone which he had consumed without any intention of harming himself.
“I am satisfied that his death was drug related.”
