A Bolton charity is appealing to the community to become volunteers as part of a "Befriender" scheme.
Age UK Bolton are looking for friendly, honest, reliable and caring people across the borough who can make a long-term commitment to visiting an older person by becoming a "Befriender".
As part of the scheme, the charity tries to match people based on interests and location and provide ongoing support to volunteers throughout their befriending journey.

Volunteers are asked to spare an hour a week to meet with an older person for a brew and a chat to bring joy into the life of a lonely elderly person in Bolton.
If you are interested in becoming a Befriender or to find out more about the role, contact Tara at Age UK on 01204382411 or email tarabarker@ageukbolton.org.uk.
