We've rounded up a number of Bolton cases heard by magistrates recently - read on to find out who's been in the dock.

Knife in public place

A man was given a suspended sentence after admitting to possessing a knife in a public place.

Marvin Chambers, 48 of Craven Court, Horwich, admitted to Wigan and Leigh Magistrates Court that he had the knife on him on Gloucester Avenue, Bolton on November 8 last year.

He was given a sentence of 16 weeks, suspended for 18 months and ordered to complete 15 rehabilitation activity requirement days.

Magistrates also ordered that the knife be seized and destroyed.

Breaching order

A man was fined after breaching a domestic violence protection order.

Lynne Greeney, 46 of Paulham Street, Bolton, admitted to Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court that he had breached the order on January 23 this year.

He was ordered to pay £50.

Drink driving

A man was banned from the roads after drink driving in Westhoughton.

Craig Lloynd, 47 of Bury Road, Bolton, admitted to Wigan and Leigh Magistrates Court that he had driven on Manchester Road while over the legal limit for alcohol on August 20 last year.

He also admitted that he did not have a proper licence or insurance at the time.

Lloynd was banned from driving for 23 months and ordered to complete 80 hours of unpaid work.

Probation

A man was given a suspended prison sentence for missing probation appointments.

Alan Martin Hutchinson, 43 of Blackshaw Lane, Bolton, admitted to Wigan and Leigh Magistrates Court that he failed to attend appointments on August 17, September 7 and September 14 last year.

He had been told to attend the appointments as part of a community order given to him by Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court after driving while banned on Hanover Street on February 17 last year.

Hutchinson was given a sentence of 12 weeks, suspended for 12 months.

Prison release

A man was ordered to pay after failing to keep to his supervision requirements after being released from prison.

Jonathan Michael Holmes, 27 of Columbia Road, Bolton, admitted to Wigan and Leigh Magistrates Court that he had failed to maintain contact with his responsible officer between January 21 and 25 2021.

His whereabouts were unknown at the time.

Holmes was ordered to pay a total of £40.

Suspended sentence

A man was given a jail sentence after committed further crimes while already serving a suspended sentence.

Reece Fitton, 28 of Calvert Road, Bolton, admitted to Wigan and Leigh Magistrates Court that he breached his suspended sentence on January 23 this year.

He had been given the suspended sentence after possessing cocaine and failing to provide a breath sample for analysis by police on May 2 last year.

He was given a total sentence of 38 weeks.

Driving ban

A man was banned from the roads and fined after drink driving.

Adam Valley, 29 of Mather Street, Kearsley, admitted to Wigan and Leigh Magistrates Court that he had driven on Albert Road, Bolton while over the legal limit for alcohol on September 25 last year.

He was banned from driving for 17 months and ordered to pay a total of £369.
