A new adaptation of Alice In Wonderland opens today.
Fall down head first with Alice as she follows the white rabbit into a curiously enchanting new world as she searches for a way to unlock her imagination.
Alice, played by Jessica Robertson and Willow Swift, encounters strange and whimsical people, a disappearing cat who’s always glad, a Mad Hatter and the tea party which never quite serves tea - and a bad-tempered Queen who is looking for her jam tarts.
Tickets are now available for the pantomime at The Barlow in Edgworth, Bolton running until February 5.
Written by the principal of LD Acting and local Bolton actress Lauren Dickenson, this is an original adaptation.
Lauren said: “I write pantomimes specifically catering for and playing to the strengths of the cast in order to give every single performer their time to shine.
“There are lots of silly moments but this pantomime drives home the same message, Alice In Wonderland and LD Acting is built on.
“The power to believe in your dreams and to accept ourselves for who we are, and I cannot express how proud I am of the talented local children I have the pleasure to teach.”
LD Acting is a community run acting school and does not believe in charging additional expensive show fees to local children who attend.
The pantomime is funded by LDA and local sponsors include Action COACH Bolton, KBL solicitors, Edgworth Cricket Club, Victoria Louise Interiors and Chris Gortsmith photography.
Half of all profits from the show will be donated to The Barlow charity which provides facilities to improve the condition of life for the local community.
This includes The Reading Room cafe, local craft fairs, lunch time clubs, seated exercise and pilates.
