Food will be served at a popular tap room.
Smokehound was first created in 2021 by Boltonians Rich Hawcroft and business partner Anthony Dickinson, who both wanted to pursue their lifelong passion for BBQ food.
Now they are to serve up food at The Brewary Bar in Horwich, the first tap room of Blackedge Brewing Company on Hampson Street.
Anthony says they were really keen to bring something new to the area after discovering that there weren’t many BBQ eateries around.
And after trailing it at various pop-up events, including Rivington Brewery, the company achieved a huge amount of success.
Anthony said: “We wanted to get a good idea of how it would go down, which is why we trialled it first.
“And it has been really successful and popular.
“We are just getting everything ready to move into the brewery now.
“We still have some pop-up events for the next few months planned, which are fully booked, and we are continuing to grow the business.”
Rich says that something that is really important to them is ensuring that the food is not only high quality, but that it is affordable too.
Rich added: “We want it to feel like the best and we want to bring it to the table without increasing the cost.
“We want it to be an affordable luxury really.
“It’s also an opportunity for people to get together to celebrate.”
The company pride themselves on sourcing their meat locally from Anglezarke Beef and Lamb in Rivington.
The farm uses the grain from the beer production to feed the cattle, which means the beer you are drinking at Blackedge Brewing has fed the burger you are eating.
Rich added: “We use the shorthorn breed of cattle from the farm.
“It’s a low intensity farm, which is something really important to us.
“The important aspect to us is the animal welfare as well as the quality of the meat.
“We think about how we source our meat, which is why we source it locally, ethically, and sustainably.
“We think it makes a difference.
“We buy the whole cow, because that allows us to put that food on the table in a cost effective way, but also give us the advantages of nose to tail dining.”
People can expect a wide-ranging menu including tacos, burgers, smoked meats, smoked ribs, pastrami, and more.
Rich says that they also want to create great vegan and vegetarian options and want to put just as much attention to detail in them as the meat options.
All the food is homemade and is made using a range of techniques from all over the world.
Smokehound plan to officially move to the tap room at Blackedge Brewing Company by the end of February.
Anthony added: “We know people in Horwich are quite into local produce and that’s why we have tried to do this.
“We are excited to finally serve food on a bigger scale.
“We want to make as many people as happy as we can by serving the best food we can.
“We are hoping to win awards and are setting big goals for the future.”
