A HUGE event is being held to officially launch The BIG Bolton Health Check in Victoria Square.
Health bosses are hoping to test at least 500 people during the event on Friday, June 20.
As many local people as possible are being urged to go along and be tested by one of 30 health trainers drafted in to help.
Dr Stephen Liversedge of Bolton Primary Care Trust said: "We want to raise as much awareness as possible for this, which is why we're holding such a big launch event. We want people to be an example to others, so if they have come along we would ask them to tell all their friends and family about it."
Local VIPs, including MPs, councillors, faith leaders, community leaders, school governors, town centre managers and staff from the Primary Care Trust and local authority will be among the first to be tested.
The event, which will be held in a huge marquee in Victoria Square, will then be opened up to members of the public, who can be tested between 11am and 6pm.
