Residents in Bromley Cross have shared their concerns regarding potholes in their area - with one saying they have been a problem for a decade.
Jordanna Bond, 34, lives in Turton Heights and has aired her worries on social media about road defects on a stretch of Turton Road.
She shared a picture of a large pothole next to a drain on Turton Road where she illustrated the depth of the hole by putting her foot in it.
Jordanna said something needs to be done to fix the potholes before damage is caused to people’s vehicles.
She added potholes have been filled in before but within a few months they are have reappeared.
Jordanna said: “There is a pretty deep pothole on Turton Road I have reported.
“It’s been filled in many times over the years and never lasts more than a few months, damaged tyre and alloy waiting to happen.
“The issues with the potholes have been going on for the past 10 years at least, there's lots of bad ones on that stretch.
“The volume of traffic has gotten worse over the years and people speed up and down the road as its relatively straight.
“I just don’t think when potholes are 'filled in' or 'fixed' they are done to a good standard hence why they are breaking down again within a matter of months.
“I think also people are reluctant to report them because it causes traffic chaos when workers have to put temporary lights up on an already very busy road.
“The whole road needs to be relayed but it needs to be done properly so it can actually last a few years.”
A resident who also lives in Bromley Cross said she also has had issues with potholes in recent weeks.
She said: “The whole village needs doing, I reported four or five sizeable potholes between the gate at St John’s School and the Hardmans cul de sac entrance to the council via FixMyStreet.
“They filled one hole. One of the big potholes popped my tyre about three weeks ago.
“Fingers crossed the council decide to do something about it.”
In response to the problem, Bromley Cross Cllr Amy Cowen said: “Any potholes which are posing a serious danger to vehicles or to individuals will be reported immediately and I would hope they would be acted on by highways as a matter of urgency.
“With regard to the general state of the roads we are well aware that the roads across the borough obviously there are lots and lots of areas that do need attention and do need upgrading in terms of the road surfacing.

“There is only a finite amount of money available to go round and all affected areas are inspected on a regular basis and highways prioritise that list of roads with the top priorities being dealt with first of all.
“So as much as I would love to be able to sort out the whole borough, obviously Bromley Cross first of all, we have got a process that we have to follow to get everything done.”
