Ward councillors braved the snow and ice to make the streets safer for pedestrians as the town was covered in white blanket.
Grit trucks have been out regularly over the past few weeks as temperatures plummet on the busiest roads such as Chorley New Road and Blackburn Road.
But many streets are not including causing concern among residents and councillors, who are pushing the council for more grit bins.
This week local councillors gritted the roads they lived on or nearby to ensure everyone could walk safely.
Cllr Andrea Taylor Burke for Little Lever was out on Lincoln Road.
She said: “This road is not gritted which is a huge concern due to it being very steep, a bus route and a major cut through. It is also a sharp bend.
“The house at the bottom of the hill has been hit twice now in a short space of time and the homeowners as you can imagine are very worried every time, we have a frost and for the future.
“I have asked that this road be gritted and have been told it cannot be done due to certain rules that highways have to follow.
“I am not happy with this decision and have taken further."
Cllr Burke is not the only one used to gritting roads as Cllr Abdul Aziz Atcha for Rumworth was out last month gritting roads with rock salt he had fundraised.

The Rumworth councillor said he was concerned about walking routes to mosques as elderly people were prone to fall.
He said: “The majority of schools will have had gritters out near them but smaller places likes mosques do not get gritted or if they do, the walking route is still dangerous.
“I have been pushing the council to replace bins in places that have empty ones or where there needs to be one.
“I still have two bags of rock salt left from last time and will go out to do the same if after a few days, the roads get icy and dangerous.”
