Bolton turned into a winter wonderland overnight with snow fall across the borough.
A second weather alert is in place as temperature remain low in the winter sun.
Over the course of today and tomorrow, Thursday January 18, The Met Office has issued two yellow weather warnings for snow and ice as temperatures plummet to 1 degrees with temperatures feeling like -4 overnight.
Snow is forecast for the early hours of tomorrow.
Today children were making most of the snow during playtime.
With Highfield Primary School reporting that Year Two were having lots of fun in the snow.
At Bolton School's primary division the Year Two children were using the snow as inspiration for some creative writing.
A spokesman said: "Year Two have really enjoyed experiencing the snow.
"We have used our senses to describe what we can see, feel, touch and hear in preparation for some winter poems! What a perfect day to be able to actually be in the snow! Imagine throwing a snowball at your teacher too!"

Forecasters have warned temperatures could stay below average into next week in parts of the UK as the cold spell continues.

Snow is covering most of Bolton and the Met Office has issued advice on what to expect in these conditions:
- Some roads and railways likely to be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and, train services
- Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces
- Probably some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths
The Met Office are warning people who must travel to do so with care and to be prepared for disruption.
