Vernon Kay is back as the host of the world’s first fully electric car racing series, Formula E.

The Bolton born TV personality and presenter posted a video on his Instagram after he flew over to Mexico for the new season of the racing series.

He captioned it, ‘new season, new cars’ as the camera panned around the pitlane.

Vernon has been the host since 2018 and travels around the world to placed like Saudi Arabia, Morocco and New York.

With 16 races in nine locations, it’s a little bit different to F1, mainly because it promotes all electric cars and has been dubbed the future of motorsport.

The 47-year-old from Horwich won a legion of new fans after his stint on I'm a Celebrity.

He follows in the footsteps of fellow T4 alumni, Steve Jones, who now presents F1 on Channel 4 and perhaps the trendsetter, Jake Humphry, who forged an incredibly successful career as the lead host for Channel 4 F1, back when Sky didn’t run it.

Vernon spoke to The Bolton News last year what he thought about the last series.

He said: “Season eight of the ABBA Formula E World Championship was pretty good.

“Stoffel Vandoorne from Mercedes EQ was the champion.

“It was competitive all the way to the very very end and on the final race we had three drivers in contention of winning the championship and that’s what Formula E is all about.

“It’s really competitive. It’s not about how much money you can invest in your team.

“It’s now season nine, brand new car, brand new rules, brand new tyres, everything is new.

“So, I think we are going to wipe the slate clean.”

Now, Vernon loves the sport, mentioning in the past how he learnt a lot by just the drivers, who know everything about the cars.

The first race in Mexico was won by Brit Jake Dennis.
