Pupils from schools across Bolton came together last week to celebrate completing a 10-week programme.
Six schools, Hardy Mill Primary School, The Oaks Primary School, St John the Evangelist RC School, St Brendan’s RC School, Egerton Primary School, and Harwood Meadows Primary School took part in a programme aiming to give children the knowledge and skills to help them become good citizens.
The programme, called Project Chameleon, is the creation of former Greater Manchester Police Chief Inspector Shane Williams.
First developed in 2015 Shane’s company, Global Policing, employ retired police officers to visit schools to teach pupils about different aspects of law and consequences of actions.
Using a variety of teaching methods, from videos and slides to interactive booklets, the children learn about theft and the dangers of drugs and weapons to healthy relationships and road safety.
On Tuesday the pupils from the six schools gave a presentation about what they learned and how it will help them to the deputy mayor of Bolton, Cllr Linda Thomas, who presented them with framed certificates in recognition of their achievements.
The programme was funded by The National Lottery Community Fund.
Children who took part in the programme had high praise for it.
