An artist is bringing smiles to people’s faces as they spot her drawings as they pass her house.
Karis Gerrard from Little Lever is a client care advisor at Vets4Pets and has been drawing on her own windows on her house since 2020 during the first lockdown.
What started as a lockdown project now has people walking by her house to catch a glimpse of the changing window art.
Karis said: “My whole life is animals and art, but art is just my hobby.
“From a young age I've always been artistic, a gift I've been given from my mum.
“My Windows began in 2020 during the Covid lockdown when I would sit with a cup of tea watching outside and see people pass, that's when I thought if I could make just one person smile when passing by it would be wonderful.
“That's when I painted the first one, an adult and child bear in the rainbow colours waving hello.
“Then they continued. Living between two schools and a main road they could be seen by all ages."
Karis has since drawn the Grinch for Christmas, The late Queen Elizabeth II for her jubilee and various other fun characters.
She said: “I do it to make people smile and I kept it going for all occasions, Halloween, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, any events in-between and now simply a normal day.
“To me art has always been great for my mind and soul. It's relaxing and now it's something I can share.”
Karis’s art has become such a hit that she has even received a hand-written card through her letter box to thank her for her creativeness.
She said: “I didn't know how many people I had made happy until recently when a card arrived through my door.
“I posted a thank you note on Facebook to try and reach out to the kind person who sent it, and throughout the day my phone pinged and more messages came with thank yous and love for the windows from people passing by.
