Residents living in flats in the town centre say they are fed up of mice running rampant.

Shanice Foster, 28, lives in Paderborn Court and says she has been dealing with the problem for around two years.

She often sees the mice climbing on kitchen surfaces, the living room, in the bedroom and her bathroom.

Shanice said that Bolton at Home have called round to put poison down, but that she was told she would have to pay if she needed the service again.

She said: “It’s disgusting and it’s a nightmare every single day.

“I have had to pay for poison and traps myself and they are still coming in my property.

“I have also had to recover mice.

“They have been in my cupboards, kitchen drawers, and my bathroom.”

She says that she doesn’t want to make food in the kitchen as a result.

Bolton at Home have said they are currently working with external pest control contractors, and that they are making progress, but that the issue is "complex".

Stephen Parker, 68, who lives in Jubilee House, previously shared his ordeal with The Bolton News in early December 2022, after saying he saw rodents climbing on his windowsill while watching TV.

He says that he often sees rats and mice and that he has seen some roaming about the flat on numerous occasions and has found mouse droppings on his windowsill.

He is still dealing with the problem and wants it to be resolved.

Stephen said: “It’s still a problem.

“I found a mouse squashed in my couch the other day.

“They want to put the utilities and rent up, but why do we have to put up with this?

“I’m fed up with it.”

Stephen has now said that he is trying to see if residents from Paderborn Court and Jubilee House can try and arrange a meeting to voice their concerns.

A spokesperson for Bolton at Home said: “We’re working with external pest control contractors to address the ongoing issues with mice.

"We’re making progress, but this is a complex situation and it’s going to take time for us to get the problem under control.

"We thank our customers for their continued patience while this work continues.”
