A woman has expressed her frustration after a car crashed into her vehicle on New Year's Eve while she was at her friend's home.
The crash happened on Lostock Junction Lane in Lostock at around 10pm on Saturday, December 31 while Louise Hallows was celebrating the end of 2022 with her friend.
She said the driver of a grey Ford Focus drove into her red Nissan, which was parked up outside her friend's home and was extensively damaged.
While the Focus was reportedly towed away following the incident, her car was left on the road and no note about the crash was left by the driver.
Video footage of the crash and the aftermath of what happened was captured by her friend's CCTV.
Louise, 42, from Breightmet, said: “I think at the moment there’s no justice in any system we have, I feel cheated.
“It is what it is, luckily no-one was hurt.
“I had been to a friend’s (home) on New Year's Eve, I’d gone there at around 7pm and went to leave at around 1am to see my car was about 25m from where I parked it.
“Shock set in when I realised it had been hit.
"My friends luckily had CCTV, which unveiled what had happened with the vehicle hitting it.
“A tow truck then arrived and three people removed the vehicle with the tow truck.
“What’s shocking is people think they can do that.
"A criminal offence has taken place and they’ve removed everything from the scene and ran off.
“First of all I was in shock and adrenaline, as to what had happened, then different emotions, frustration, upset, anger, but also relief that no one was injured.”
Louise and her friend didn’t hear the crash as the house is set back from the road and they were busy socialising.
She said: “Now I feel frustration that nothing will be done because police can’t do anything without a registration number.
“In the meantime, I’m a primary school teacher and am now without a car.
"I’ve been told it’s a write off and haven’t had anything back from insurance yet.
“It was recovered on New Year's Day morning and taken to a local garage who assessed it. They told me they were writing it off.
“The front suspension has come off, the back is totally caved in as well.
"The collision also caused damage to my friend’s wall."
Louise said camera footage in the area. also shows the culprite.
She added: “The footage shows the person coming out of the car, returning for something, starting to run off and then comes back for something else before fleeing the scene.
“I just want it to be known that it has happened, and that people could have a little bit more courtesy."
If anyone saw a grey Ford Focus around Lostock Junction Lane at around 10pm on New Year's Eve, or one being towed away from the area at around 11pm, contact police on 101.
