An Indian street café has been named as one of the most weird and wonderful drive-thru’s in the UK.
Chaiiwala drive-thru on Manchester Road in Bolton was listed as one of the unique places by the team at Select Car Leasing as part of their recent UK Drive Thru Index.
It opened just a month ago and offers all the typical Chaiiwala dishes such as keema and roti and samosa burgers as well as the famous hot drinks including the signature pink chai and karak chai.
A spokesman for Select Car Leasing said: “With restaurants in locations such as Huddersfield and Manchester’s Trafford Centre, leading Indian street cafe Chaiiwala has revolutionised the UK’s Halal chai sector with its opening of its first drive-thru in Bolton.
“From drinks such as the warming Karak Chai to the street food specials like the Aloo Tikki Burger, this place offers a truly unique Indian takeaway experience.”
The Bolton outlet is the first Chaiiwala drive-thru in the UK and is set to to revolutionise the chai scene.
Co-founder Sohail Ali said: “This is a totally new experience for our valued customers and the first time they can experience our Indian street food in a drive-thru setting.
“This is the first time we have offered this concept and are delighted with the results."
The restaurant was opened in conjunction with the EG Group as part of a strategic partnership with them and brings their store count in the UK to 68, and 75 across the world, with ambitious plans to reach 100 by 2023.
But Manchester overall was ranked as the third worst city for a visit to a drive-through, with a disappointing score of 2.2 out of 10.
Despite this, Chaiiwala made a good impression and was third on the list.

The idea for the drive-thru has been years in the making, as the team have searched all across the UK before deciding on Bolton for the drive-thru.
Sohail said: “Using this blueprint we are now actively searching for new drive-thru locations across the UK which will replicate the Bolton store model.”
The chai café serves all day long from 7.30am to 11pm.
