A school has paid tribute to an 11-year-old who tragically died after being hit by a bus as a fundraiser to help his heartbroken family is set up.
Lucas Ashton was riding his bike on Vernon Steet in Bolton outside his home when he was struck by a bus on December 30.
Lucas was pronounced dead at the scene and his family continue to be supported by specialist police officers during the difficult time.
Flowers and cards continue to be left at the scene of the tragedy in memory of the 11-year-old.
A floral tribute was laid on behalf of Gaskell Primary School.
A note attached read: “You were a big part of the Gaskell heart and always will be.
“We will never forget you and everything you brought to our school. RIP Lucas.”
A Go Fund Me page has also been created for Lucas by his aunty, Sharon Ashton to help the family.
Sharon said: "As a big sis and an aunty, I want to do all that I can to get them through this.
"The pain is indescribable right now, everything is so raw, the world can be so cruel, I just have no words.
"For those who knew and met Lucas he really was the most handsome little boy, so polite, manners of an angel, loved cycling, blading and Pokemon.
"A proper lads lad, that loved to adventure and have fun as all little boys do.
"Lucas you really will be the skies brightest star, we all miss you so much already and we all promise to look after mummy and daddy, our hearts are shattered into a million pieces.
"I'd like to take the pressure of any funeral and memorial costs away from Sarah and Andrew , so that they can grieve without any additional stresses
"I've set up this Gofundme to help them with their permission, any donations comes with a huge heartfelt thanks from all the family , in what I know is a difficult time for so many right now
"Lucas we all love you so so much , sleep tight beautiful boy."
Already £4,595 has been donated exceeding the £4,000 goal.
Blue balloons have been tied to a railing alongside the flowers left on the scene
Another tribute said: “You were such a lovely little boy Lucas.
“Hope you’re up there showing them angels how to play basketball.
“Sleep well little man.”
One said: “RIP young Lucas. Thoughts and prayers with your family and friends at this heart-breaking time.”
Another read: “Always in our thoughts. Rest in peace Lucas. Love Karen and Conor.”
Greater Manchester Police are still appealing for information following the crash particularly from passengers on the bus at the time.
