A young boy on a bike has been hit by a bus in Bolton town centre this afternoon, Friday.
The incident happened at the junction between Vernon Street and Prince Street ar around 1.40pm.
Greater Manchester Police has confirmed the cyclist was a young boy and has described the collision as a "serious incident”.
A force spokesperson has said: "At approximately 1.40pm today, Friday, officers were called to reports of a road traffic collision between a cyclist and a bus on Vernon Street in Bolton.
"A scene is in place at Vernon Street and Prince Street and road closures are in place.
"The investigation is ongoing."
Motorists in the area are being advised to choose and alternate route as "emergency services will be on scene for the foreseeable future".
A spokesperson from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service added: “Just after 2pm this afternoon, Friday, December 30, the technical response unit from Leigh was called to reports of a road traffic collision involving a bus on Vernon Street, Bolton.
“The crew arrived quickly at scene and worked to make the area safe.
"One person was taken to the hospital by colleagues from the North West Ambulance Service.
“Firefighters were in attendance for around an hour.”
North West Ambulance Service confirmed that they took one person to hospital.
A spokesperson said: "We took a call at 1.40pm to Vernon Street and we sent an ambulance and rapid response vehicle to the scene of an road traffic collision involving a car and a cyclist."
