This year has seen an abundance of new restaurants opening in Bolton as well as several eateries that have had complete makeovers.

Some of the owners behind the venues have told us how business has been since opening their doors and what the public can expect as the New Year approaches.

Dina Restaurant, a new Lebanese-Turkish café and restaurant, made Newport Street in the town centre its new home in May.

The restaurant offers a wide range of authentic cuisine, as well as English options too, including shawarma, pizza, kebab, baklava, soups, coffee, falafels and more.

Palestinian owner Aref Zakout says that business couldn’t be better, and that he couldn’t have done it without the help of his son Mohammed, wife Sawsan, and daughter Shahd.

He said: “My wife has helped with lots of Lebanese dishes and my son and daughter have really helped.

“She was my right hand when I opened the business.

“I couldn’t have done it by myself.”

Aref says that locals will also get 20 percent off all foods in January and that they also try and help the homeless when they can too.

Ewe Restaurant and Bar has received rave reviews since opening in November and taking over the former India Gate Restaurant.

The owners bill it as a new modern British restaurant and bar, offering modern, British, and globally inspired dishes with a warm countryside welcome.

And with the rise in the cost of living, operations manager Nathan Baxter says this is something they have taken into account for the New Year.

Nathan said: “We have had a very good response.

“And being a new business, there are always challenges.

“With the cost of living crisis we feel that customers are being aware of money, and as a business we are trying to reflect that in the menus.”

In January the restaurant is offering 50 per cent off their a-la-carte menu during Monday-Friday from 12-5pm.

In the same month Absolute Bar and Bistro on Market Street in Westhoughton relaunched under new management, and took on a team of top chefs.

And after the kitchen refurb and revamp inside, the business has gone from strength to strength.

The restaurant and bar offer a unique selection of European-style tapas menus.

Manager John McGinlay, son of the Wanderers legend with the same name, said: “It’s busy every week and things are picking up.

“People are coming in for breakfast and coffee every day now they know we are open all day.

“We have seen a new clientele coming into Westhoughton that didn’t come in here before.

“It’s exciting as the business grows and we get to meet lots of new and old customers.”

The menu is expected to change at the end of the month as well.

The year also saw plenty more restaurants choose Bolton as their new home, including Patrao Indian Street Food, Fresto, Nabucco, Med 3, and more.
