Emergency services were called to a two car smash with one vehicle hitting a tree.
Fire crews from Farnworth had to cut one man out of a car follwing the crash at 9pm last night.
The incident happened on Tennyson Road in Farnworth.
Firef crews said that two cars crashed at the junction .
People in the car which hit the tree managed to escape the vehicle and believed to have not suffered any injury but the driver was trapped due to injuries
The passenger in the other car managed to get out okay, but the driver was trapped and had to be cut out of the car, with the roof of the vehicle having to be removed.
Station Commander for Farnworth said: “We arrived on the scene after two cars collided at the junction, with one car hitting a tree.
“The person in the car that hit the tree got out themselves and weren’t hurt.
“The passenger in the other car got out okay, but the driver suffered from being medically trapped.
“They weren’t fully trapped, but because of back and spine injuries we made sure we got him out safely following North West ambulance Service’s advice.
“This resulted in us taking the roof off.”
A technical response unit from Leigh attended, as well as police.
The crew were on the scene for about an hour.
Firefighters closed the road at the time, and this was then handed over to police.
