A Bolton veterinary practice, which specialises in treating horses, has been handed a prestigious award for excellence.
Simon Constable’s Equine Vets based in Bolton has been awarded the Veterinary Practice of the Year Award at the Equestrian Business Awards.
The was awards ceremony held in Nottingham and saw two Bolton business owners shortlisted.
Simon and manager, Dave Cooper, accepted the award on behalf of all the staff at the local equine vets whilst Laura Mundy of Ride, Relax and Rehabilitate Equine Massage Services was shortlisted in the top three of Equine Therapist of the Year.
Simon said: “Laura has done a sterling job and thoroughly deserved her nomination as a finalist along with other high-class therapists.”
The Equestrian Business Awards are countrywide and rely on nominations and testimonials by clients, a thorough investigation process and a rigorous interview requiring detailed information about the business, its ethos, and aspirations and this is the first time that two businesses from Bolton have been nominated.
Simon opened his practice in 1997 and has cared for the horses, ponies, and donkeys in the region for the last 25 years.
He has achieved his aim of a dual master’s degree in equine orthopaedics and soft tissue surgery which has allowed him to open the first horse operating theatre in the area by devoting his time to his patients and this has been acknowledged in this award.
The practice covers the whole of Greater Manchester and into Lancashire, Cheshire, Merseyside, and Yorkshire as well as working out of the clinic in Outwood.

Simon employs 15 staff, all of whom are in the local area with the majority living in Bolton.
Simon said: “My staff are the lifeblood of the enterprise, and it is their care, hard work and professionalism that has allowed the business to be so successful.”
