Youngsters took to the stage to perform a modern day version of the nativity.

Bolton school’s reception and pre-school class children’s modern retelling of the first Christmas was performed for for teachers and parents.

In the children’s’ version, ‘Wriggly Nativity’,  a range of techniques were used to tell the familiar story in a new way.

A spokesperson for the school said: “The Reception and Pre-School Class children from Bolton School performed 'Wriggly Nativity' - a modern retelling of the story of ‘The First Christmas’ through music, singing and lots of dancing.”

The young actors took the roles of familiar nativity characters, such as Mary and Joseph, animals from the stable, angels, and stars.
