Police have been patrolling the town centre over the course of the day and have reported making several arrests.

The officers were dressed in both hi-vis uniforms and in plain clothes as they patrolled around the Bolton town centre on Friday.

This came as part of a partnership with Bolton Council and with other agencies.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “The Neighbourhood South team have been out today in Bolton Town centre.

"We have been out in both hi-vis uniform and plain clothes.

“Working in partnership with Bolton Council enforcement team, Transport for Greater Manchester and Foundation 92 youth engagement team

“We made arrests for drunk and disorderly, begging and conducted stop searches in relation to the missus of drugs act.”

Foundation 92 is a Salford based group which also covers Bolton and aims to support people to improve their lives through education with an emphasis on physical and mental wellbeing.

This comes amid long running concerns about crime and anti-social behaviour in Bolton and elsewhere across the city region.

Officers have urged anyone with any concerns to call 101 or 999 in the event of an emergency.
