A busy Bolton junction was closed this afternoon after police received reports of a road traffic collision.
Blackburn Road with its junction with Crompton Way was shut just after 12.34pm.
An investigation has been launched as a pedestrian was involved.
An air ambulance was also scrambled to the scene.
Traffic was being diverted up Belmont Road, as well as Darwen Road, Turton Road, and Tonge Moor Road whilst the scene remains in place.
A spokesperson for GMP said: "Officers were called to reports of a road traffic accident at 12.34pm, Friday 16 December 2022, on Blackburn Road in Bolton.
"Traffic has been diverted up Belmont Road whilst there is a scene in place.
"Investigations are ongoing."
A spokesperson for NWAS said: “We were called at 12:41pm to a RTC involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.
“We sent various resources including an ambulance and an air ambulance.
“We are still on scene.”
Whilst it yet to be confirmed, a witness says they saw a man collapse.
They also called for action following a series of recent crashes on the road.
A witness from the scene said: “It happened so quickly.
“It was ram packed but he collapsed."
The incident caused traffic disruption in the area.
