An eviction notice has been served on tenants who police say have been making their neighbours' lives a misery.

The house in Tonge Fold has had a notice plastered to its door.

Neighbourhood police officers with GMP Bolton North say people living there were acting in an anti-social manner.

A spokesman for the local police force warned that officers would not hesitate to use their powers against those having an impact on the quality of life of others.

He said: "This is Tonge Fold.

"The occupant of this address felt it was ok to misuse their tenancy by allowing people to attend the address and act in an anti-social manner causing misery to other people in the area trying to get on with their daily lives.

"That’s why it’s now available for someone else who needs it. Hopefully the next resident will treat it with more respect.

" The North neighbourhood team will pursue anyone acting in this way and along with our colleagues in the local authority and various housing associations we will seek to evict those individuals abusing their properties to the detriment of everyone else.

"It doesn’t matter if it’s a local authority property, housing association or private landlord, we have powers to act."

The Bolton News has reported on a number of cases over the years where a closure notice has been obtained and tenants evicted.

In one recent case Bolton Council urged residents affected by anti-social behaviour to report problem neighbours after a closure order was obtained on a Farnworth drug den.

The order followed multiple reports of anti-social behaviour and breaches of Covid-19 regulations at the property between July and October 2020.
