A BMW was stopped and seized after its driver was found to have been uninsured.

According to police on patrol, the car was seen being driven the Halliwell area of Bolton earlier this week.

After stopping the car and questioning the driver, officers then seized the car.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “The driver of this vehicle was on Santa's naughty list this year.

“They were caught driving this vehicle around Halliwell with no insurance.

“It was promptly stopped, and the vehicle seized by officers.”

Images supplied by officers at the scene show the car being towed away.

They have not as yet supplied further details about sanctions handed down to the driver.

This comes after other recent cases of car related crime, including the use of cloned number plates, driving without insurance and driving without a license in and around the Bolton area.

Many of these have resulted in cars being seized by officers and sanctions handed out to owners.

Police have appealed for anyone concerned about vehicle theft or about other cases of crime and anti-social behaviour on the roads to phone 101 or 999 in an emergency.

Witnesses can also contact independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
