Runways at Manchester Airport are currently closed due to snow.

A number of Twitter users have reported that Manchester Airport has closed its runways due to snowfall.

The closure is said to be disrupting flights with some being diverted to other airports in England.

Heart North West News took to Twitter to share the news, writing: “Flights have been suspended at Manchester Airport due to snow. Outbound flights are on hold and inbound flights are diverting to Birmingham, East Midlands or London #HeartNews”

Manchester Airport has since tweeted the statement, adding: "Passengers are advised to contact their airline for the most up-to-date flight information."
