Peter Kay continues to be just as popular with his fans as he has ever been.
The Bolton stand-up comedy star has made a return to arenas across the UK this year and will continue to do so until at least 2025 as he makes a comeback with his all new tour, Better Late Than Never.
And the star is just as loved as he was all those years ago at the height of his career.
Kay, who broke the Guinness World Record in 2010-11 for the largest-selling standup tour, selling more than 1.2m tickets, and is still the record holder, is once again selling out arenas as fans want to see him on stage after a quiet 12 years.
On Thursday night, Kay, who teased a "big announcement", appeared on fellow Boltonian Sara Cox's BBC Radio 2 show just after 6pm to discuss his first and last music gigs.
He shared his thanks to his fans while announcing he would be adding extra dates with tickets going on sale yesterday, Sunday, December 11.
The new shows will be in Newcastle, Leeds, Manchester, Sheffield, Birmingham, Glasgow and many more.
The success of his tour though has already been significant with thousands flocking to grab tickets causing O2 to crash last month.
The love from his fans was present as he took to the stage on Friday, December 2, and he was brought to tears on the opening night.
The comedian received a rapturous standing ovation which lasted several minutes, with audiences chanting his name.
He appeared overwhelmed by the reaction, pausing to lean against a stool on stage before standing up and dabbing his eyes.
“Oh Jesus look at me, I mean what’s that all about… how am I supposed to do bloody comedy now?” he asked audiences, prompting the first laughs of the evening.
Kay continues to wow audiences and be an inspiration for comedians across the UK.
