One of Bolton’s most significant housing developments is set to be complete by this summer.

The Silkash development will see more than 149 homes built at Westhoughton with first time buyers and families in mind.

This comes with developers Peel L&P having set out their plans for Bolton and the wider North West region for the year ahead.

“Every one of our 150 homes comes equipped with thoughtful touches, from spacious rooms with high ceilings to technology-enabled living, creating a home that you will love.”

The development will include a mixture of two, three and four bedroom houses which will also make use of more energy efficient recycled heating.

As well as families and first time buyers, the company has said that they have also been built particularly with people looking to downscale from larger properties in mind.

Building work first began in March 2020 with plans first having been lodged all the way back in 2015.

Next summer’s opening will mark the culmination of a long period of work and planning that has also included the pandemic and various lockdowns.  

The Silkash development is one of several that Peel L&P has been involved in across Bolton over the last year.

The construction of hundreds of new homes on the former site of Horwich Golf Club is another high-profile project the company has unveiled in recent years, which is also being driven by Peel’s development arm Northstone.

But thee company is most well known in the borough as the driving force behind plans to build a £200m "Ryder Cup" standards golf course along with hundreds of new houses in Over Hulton.

Peel L&P is also behind several other housing developments across Salford and Trafford and further afield around the North West.
