Children at a Bolton primary school were treated to a special guest visitor for three days last week.
Reception class students at Moorgate Primary School in Tonge were lucky enough to welcome Kiera Byland and her father Brian.
The 24-year-old who is based in Bolton has been a Special Olympics Great Britain athlete since 2014 and has won six gold medals for cycling at the 2015 and 2019 Special Olympics World Games.
She also competes as a Special Olympics athlete both locally and nationally in swimming and horse riding.
The reception students benefitted from Kiera’s expert experience as they completed a three-day balance ability course.
By the end of the course, eight of the children were able to ride a bike without stabilisers.
Amy Newton, reception class teacher at the school said: “We are so proud of all the children and their determination to get riding.
“The children enjoyed meeting Kiera, and lots want to be Olympic athletes like her when they grow up.
“She taught the children to dream big and always try their best.”
