An entrepreneur is hoping to inspire the next generation of beauticians, with the launch of her business education centre.
Ruby Jo Lomax, 33, has set up RLJ Education after going through college and being told that she had to continue training to achieve salon standard for another two years.
After running Escape Hairdressing and Beauty for 11 years, she now wants to train up the next generation.
She added: “We offer a range of courses where people can learn about semi-permanent makeup and aesthetics and give them the knowledge to get going with their own businesses.
“I wasn’t in a salon environment, so I had to retrain because they didn’t teach certain things in college.
“I went to college for one full year, full time and I thought I was ready because I had coloured hair and I could cut.”
She says it was only when applying for a job in a salon she realised she need to get more training.
Ruby added: “It was the best decision I made because it helped me get to that next step.
“No one prepares you for that next step.
“I have had to learn myself over the years and I want to share that with each person who comes on my course.”
Ruby has since gone on to be nominated for two awards at the Bolton Women in Business Awards in April next year, and outstanding female entrepreneur and women in hairdressing 2022/2023 award.
The courses will help those who either want to be trained at a salon standard in hair and beauty or want to set up their own business.
The 'schoo'l is open to anyone who either doesn’t have any experience or who has a lot of experience.
Ruby added: “I hope that I can help people have all the knowledge to get to where they need to be.
“I have worked so hard, and I wouldn’t be here and able to open a salon if it wasn’t for the training I got.”
Being a single mum to four-year-old Rosie is also one of Ruby’s main driving forces.
She said: “I want to build a bright future for me and her as a single mum.
“Also, seeing other people’s struggles makes me feel grateful.”
The grand opening of the beauty education centre will be on Friday December 2 from 6pm-late at 488A Blackburn Road, Bolton, BL1 8PE.
Mayor of Bolton Councillor Akhtar Zaman is also expected to attend the opening.
