Cars have been queuing all day at a Bolton petrol station which had slashed its prices as part of the Black Friday weekend frenzy.

Texaco fuel forecourt on Chorley Old Road in Horwich had staff outside directing cars as they waited to fuel up after it announced this morning prices would be reduced dramatically.

The owner of the station has slashed the fuel from 6am to 8pm tonight, from 149p a litre for petrol and175p a litre for diesel to 139.9p for petrol and 159.9p for diesel.

The Bolton News:

Businesses all over the country are currently working Black Friday Deals but this Bolton fuel court took it one step further  in a bid to help the community in the cost-of-living crisis.

Mohammed Patel working at the station, said: “It’s been really busy, I came in about 45 minutes earlier just to help out.

“We’ve got our staff here from the night shift helping out as well and we’ve got extra staff today as well.

The Bolton News:

“Down the road it’s all full and I’ve been here since about 1pm and it’ll be busy probably all day till 8pm.

“The idea was to compete to get the best fuel price and once a year we do a black Friday deal but this year it’s on a Sunday because on Friday schools were open and it would have caused mayhem, there’d be school traffic.

“I think it’s a good idea to help the community and get the customers in and welcoming the from all over the place.”

The traffic was busy on Chorley Old Road and many people were happy to wait for the cheaper fuel.

Sandra Lee had travelled from Atherton and said: “I heard about it and I work in Bolton anyway so it’s not bad to come here.

“I think it’s amazing that they have done this because it’s a really hard time for people and for everyone working and with kids, it’s just so important we fuel up and it isn’t cheap usually.”

One lady, a regular customer said she was impressed with the decision. She said: “We come here all the time anyway so it’s not unusual for us, but I just think they deserve to be known for what they’re doing here today.”

Another person had travelled from Farnworth and said: “I’ve not seen this before but it’s a good idea, it’s what we need right now with everything being so expensive, we need something like this.”

This comes after Limes Service Station in Walkden dropped their prices significantly in July, when petrol prices were reaching record highs of around 191p for petrol and 199p for diesel.
